Local data analysis, or Edge computing, can be performed using a variety of hardware and/or software. RAS Edge has experience in offering solutions such as dedicated data gathering units or connection to PLC systems and networks. Even if PLCs are used, the data needed to create useful reporting information may be missing, but we have the expertise to work with our customers to find solutions.
The advantages of edge computing are typically reduced device response times and improved system latency as well as data collection being non-reliant on good internet connectivity at all times.

HMS Ewon Netbiter Based Solutions
The HMS Ewon Netbiter is a perfect hardware and software solution for quick and easy data gathering needs. The hardware has Ethernet, serial ports and I/O connection, as well as support for Modbus, EtherNet/IP and CAN. Also featuring built-in digital and analogue inputs the device is ready for connection of sensing devices to gather system information.
What sets apart the HMS Ewon Netbiter is the ability to send data directly to the Argos server, provided and supported by HMS where data can be stored directly from the device with an internet or cellular connection.
This provides users with the data in one location from many Netbiter devices without extensive local set-up of hardware, databases etc. From there Argos server data can be used to make dashboards representing the system and its operation.
RAS Edge has experience not only with developing dashboards and interfaces but also bespoke connections via the Argos API to provide advanced reporting to meet our client requirements.
HMS Flexy Based Solutions
The HMS Flexy is an IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) gateway device supporting excellent data gathering, as well as alarming and alarm notification.
With outstanding support for data gathering from industrial hardware using protocols such as OPC-UA, Modbus, direct PLC communication, a single Flexy unit can gather data over a network from a number of devices and send it to the Talk2M cloud repository where it can be collected for further processing.
RAS Edge have a long history of working with the Flexy, and are accomplished at providing solutions where scripting and data manipulation are needed.
PLC Based Solutions Ideal For Industrial Environments
For data gathering and analysis in more industrial environments where PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) network connection can easily allow access the local raw data. As well as network connection options there are gateway solutions such as the HMS Flexy which can as a bridge to access the data.
We have knowledge and experience of a variety of the industrial communication networks such as: Profibus and ProfiNet, Modus and Modbus TCP as well as many others such as CC-Link IE Field and EtherCat IP. Even where customers have multiple networks, gateway solutions from HMS can be used for multiple network connections.

​SCADA (Supervisory control and data acquisition) based software solutions have the advantage to not only provide and over-arching control system but also allow for dashboard style information viewing.
